Albany WA Weekend Itinerary – Day One

Morning – Middleton Beach and Ellen Cove

Start at Middleton Beach. It’s the most central beach in Albany and the easiest place to begin a weekend trip – calm water, a good stretch of sand and cafes nearby for breakfast. If you’re staying in self-contained accommodation in Albany, you’ll likely be within a short drive.

After the beach, walk around to Ellen Cove. It’s a small sheltered beach right at the edge of Albany town connected to Middleton Beach by a boardwalk. Takes about 20 minutes and the views back toward town are worth it.

Afternoon – Frenchman Bay and the Gap

Drive out to Frenchman Bay Road. This stretch takes you past some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the region. Stop at The Gap and Natural Bridge – the water pushes through a narrow granite channel and the scale of it is genuinely impressive. Allow an hour and bring a jacket, it’s exposed.

Torndirrup National Park covers this area and there’s no entry fee. If you have time, Misery Beach is nearby and worth a stop — small, quiet and quite beautiful.

Evening – Dinner on Stirling Terrace

Head back into town for dinner. Stirling Terrace has the best concentration of restaurants in Albany WA and it’s walkable if you’re staying centrally. Worth booking ahead on Friday and Saturday nights during peak season.

Albany WA Weekend Itinerary – Day Two

Morning – Albany Historic Precinct

Albany is one of the oldest European settlements in Western Australia and the town centre reflects that. The National ANZAC Centre at Mount Clarence is one of the standout attractions in the region, it’s genuinely well done and takes about 90 minutes. Patrick Taylor Cottage and the old gaol are also nearby if history is your thing.

Check the things to do in Albany WA guide for a full rundown on attractions and how to fit them into a short trip.

Afternoon – Two Peoples Bay or a Winery

Two Peoples Bay is about 35km east of Albany and one of the best nature reserves in the region. It’s a longer, wilder beach than Middleton and you’re likely to see wildlife. Good for a walk and a swim before heading back.

If you’d rather wind down over a glass of wine, the Albany region has a handful of cellar doors worth visiting. Plantagenet Wines and Moores Hill are both well regarded and not far from town.

Before You Leave – Quick Stops Worth Knowing

If you have a bit of time before checkout, the Albany Farmers Market runs on Saturday mornings and is worth a look. Coffee on Stirling Terrace before the drive home is a good way to finish.
